WAAV BOX x OYSTERS DANIEL SORLUT
WAAV Box was conceived as more than packaging — it became a physical archive of material research, transformation, and storytelling.
Created for the WAAV collection developed with Oysters Daniel Sorlut, the project explored how a box could communicate the value hidden within discarded oyster shells and translate years of experimentation into a tactile experience.

The design emerged from the same research process that shaped the WAAV project itself: an investigation into oyster waste, circular systems, and new material possibilities derived from marine by-products. Inspired by the organic geometry and layered texture of oyster shells, the box was developed through parametric design methodologies, generating fluid forms that echoed the natural patterns of the sea.

Rather than functioning as a conventional container, WAAV Box was designed as an extension of the research narrative. Inside, clients discovered curated samples of the new materials developed from oyster waste — transforming the unboxing experience into a moment of discovery, education, and sensory connection with the project.

The contrast between advanced digital fabrication and raw natural materiality became central to the identity of the piece. Precision, sustainability, and craftsmanship coexisted within an object that embodied both scientific exploration and emotional storytelling.

OBJECTIVE
Creation of a parametric packaging system designed to communicate the research, material innovation, and circular design processes developed through the WAAV project and oyster waste investigation.

RESULTS
Development of a sculptural packaging object inspired by oyster shell geometries, containing material samples created from recycled oyster waste and designed as an immersive storytelling experience connecting sustainability, research, and design.
