Plat Cor is an interactive dining experience born from a provocative idea: what if you could eat a heartbeat?

Blending product design, sensory technology, and augmented gastronomy, the project transforms a plate into a living interface capable of reacting to food in real time. Designed around a specific recipe featuring beef heart, the piece explores the emotional and symbolic relationship between the body, food, and perception.

Embedded sensors detect the presence and exact weight of the dish placed on the plate, activating a synchronized system of light and sound. As the food is served, the plate begins to emit pulsing heartbeat rhythms accompanied by subtle lighting effects that intensify the dining experience and create a multisensory connection with the meal. Once the dish is removed, the system fades and returns to silence.

More than a functional object, Plat Cor turns the act of eating into a performative experience—where technology amplifies taste, emotion, and narrative, inviting the user to physically and emotionally connect with what is on the plate.
