NEXT GEN DESIGN x BCD

As part of Barcelona Design Week, Plat Institute participated in the latest edition of the Next Gen Design programme, mentoring emerging international creatives during an intensive week-long hackathon focused on sustainability, innovation, and future-oriented design.

Through talks, workshops, and collaborative sessions, participants were guided across the entire creative process — from ideation and conceptualization to prototyping and final pitching. Plat Institute shared its methodologies centered on creativity, sensory thinking, circularity, and experimental design practices.

The experience was also complemented by a series of creative safaris across Barcelona, visiting studios, cultural spaces, and creative hubs designed to expand participants’ references, inspire new perspectives, and encourage interdisciplinary thinking.

The programme became an immersive platform for experimentation, collaboration, and speculative design, empowering a new generation of creatives to imagine more sustainable futures.

OBJECTIVE

Creation of an immersive mentorship programme focused on creativity, sustainability, and innovation, guiding emerging designers through collaborative and future-driven design methodologies.
RESULTS

Development of a week-long hackathon experience during Barcelona Design Week, combining workshops, creative safaris, prototyping, and final presentations to support participants in transforming ideas into speculative design concepts.
